On March 4, The Mabo Centre launched in Boorloo at Frasers Kings Park.
The Mabo Centre is a partnership led by First Nations peoples, formed between the National Native Title Council and the University of Melbourne.
The aim of the Centre is to promote First Nations leadership and enhance economic opportunities for communities through land and sea rights.
As Australia shifts toward a cleaner future and focuses on critical minerals, projects and infrastructure development are increasingly taking place on lands with native title interests and other Traditionally Owned lands. Now more than ever, it is essential that Traditional Owners are engaged, and agreements and investments are part of Australia’s transition to a fairer future.
Garlett Group was represented by Georgia King, a Meriem Mer Torres Strait Islander woman and Digital Content Coordinator at Garlett Group.
“It was a wonderful evening hearing passionate, intelligent, and steadfast Aboriginal leaders discuss Eddie Mabo and how his incredible work for Native Title and Land Rights transformed Australia. The Mabo Centre will continue his legacy and fulfil its mission of advancing First Nations leadership and improving economic opportunities for communities through land and sea rights.” Georgia said.
Garlett Group is proud to work with Traditional Owners, government and industry in transitioning to a cleaner future, together.
